It is my pleasure to share my artwork with you, and to introduce you to my work and my philosophy. Finding the poetry in trees, working with wood and creating sculptures has been a long romance in my life.
As a child walking through the forests and rolling hills of Palatinate, in Southwestern Germany, I fell in love with trees. As a teenager I hiked for days among the trees and entered their enchantment. There in the midst of mother nature, I realized that the trees that were the most beautiful were the ones that were not perfectly shaped – on the contrary, it was the ones that were askew, twisted, or gnarled that held the most magic.
I call these sculptures Tree Souls, because they still hold the soul and essence of the tree they once were. They can touch our own soul and remind us of our own uniqueness and beauty, and they can be a gateway into other realms. This is one of the gifts that these sculptures hold: when we take a moment to sit with them, or just look at them, they will transform us and bring us back into unity with ourselves.
My work as an artist is primarily to bring out the beauty that already exists and to capture the essence of the tree and gently place it on a foundation so we get to see and enjoy it.
Thank you for visiting my site. I am happy to hear from you.
